In the heart of the bustling city of Dhaka lies a tranquil retreat - my small balcony garden. Despite its modest size, it holds a world of greenery and life that brings me joy every day. Nestled amidst the concrete jungle, my balcony garden is a sanctuary for leafy companions and seasonal blooms. The space is adorned with an array of plants, from vibrant floral varieties that burst into color with the changing seasons to lush green foliage that provides a soothing backdrop year-round.
One of the highlights of my garden is the daily symphony of birdsong that graces the air from dawn till dusk. Mesmerized by their chirping melodies, I've made it a point to welcome these feathered visitors by providing them with a clay bowl brimming with fresh water. In the scorching heat of Dhaka, this small gesture offers respite to our avian friends and transforms my balcony into a cozy haven for them. …& there are always some plants you adore a little bit more. Amidst this botanical ensemble stands a majestic Monstera. In my garden, the Monstera rules the highest; its beauty enchants all. It oozes elegance with glossy leaves and exquisite fenestrations, fitting in perfectly with the lush surroundings. Adaptable to both indoor and outdoor spaces, it transforms every corner into a haven of beauty. As the focal point of my sanctuary, the Monstera infuses every moment with timeless elegance.
Another one is ‘the Pothos’- which emerges as a sturdy beauty. I have three varieties – Manjula, Njoy, and Neon. No Dhaka balcony garden would be complete without the inescapable POTHOS, widely known as the "Money Plant." Not only is this favorite plant visually appealing, but it is also quite easy to care for and adapt to. It thrives in low-light areas and is an excellent choice for both new and experienced gardeners, effortlessly bringing life to forgotten corners and vacant places – like my home garden. Pothos, a beloved friend on my botanical journey, is more than just a plant.

Lost in the murmurs of their foliage, with a steaming cup of tea cradled in my hands, I take my seat among them, while each leaf whispering tales of resilience. As I sip the hot tea and commune with them silently, the worries of worldly issues begin to fade away. Once more I return to my leafy retreat, as the sun begins its descent, painting the sky in hues of amber and gold. A simple glance at my greenery wraps me in a blanket of ataraxy, making the simplicity of everyday life undeniably beautiful. In the quiet arms of my balcony, which stands a silent witness to my journey, I find both peace and growth. I ponder and paint here, sip my tea surrounded by greenery, enjoying the warmth of the sun and the soothing stroke of the wind. As darkness falls, I am given the blessing of sunset, a fantastic sight that fills my spirit with awe, like a preview enticing me to relive the wonder anew. Blessed am I to call this place home, where nature's beauty reflects my peace of mind and gratitude.
